A little about me ...
My name is Ian Petty and I always knew I wanted to be an artist. For as long as I can remember, I have been captivated by the way a brush or pencil could be used to create something truly extraordinary. From the time I was a young child, art has held a special place in my heart.
My love for art was cemented the day my mother bought me my first paintbox and set of crayons for my 9th birthday. That was the day I became Ian Petty, the artist. I was inspired to try all sorts of different mediums—from oil paints to charcoal, from watercolors to pastels—and each new discovery expanded my knowledge and skills, allowing me to explore new avenues of expression.
As I grew older, I began to take my passion more seriously. I attended art school, studied the works of famous artists, and even traveled around the world to gain more perspective on the world of art. After two decades of dedication and learning, I am proud to now be a professional artist.
As a professional artist, I remain dedicated to exploring new ways of expression, while never forgetting the wonderful journey that started with a paintbox and some crayons. I still find joy in looking back on that moment in time and how it has shaped my life and my career thus far.
My work has been showcased in galleries, museums, and cultural institutions all around the world. My goal is to inspire others to not only appreciate the beauty of art but to also explore their own creativity and find their own unique way of expressing their ideas.
I am grateful for these past 20 years of growth and achievement, and I am excited to see where the journey takes me next. Though I have traveled far and seen many things, I can still trace my love of art back to that first gift from my mother on my ninth birthday. It was that paintbox and set of crayons that opened up a whole new world for me, and opened my eyes to the beauty and potential of art.
