"Virtu is simply the most
outstanding dressage horse to have competed for Britain. He and Emile
Faurie had a special bond which was immediately obvious on meeting them
"at home" away from the competitive atmosphere of high level dressage
competition. I painted them because I enjoyed watching them so much, especially
since their performance was always so light and full of apparent ease.
The choice of setting was easy. Most of my happy memories of watching dressage are of competitions at Goodwood House. It was a wonderful setting - one wholly appropriate for the sport and one which is now very sadly missed". |
