"Again a scene in early Spring at Newmarket. It was bitterly cold but bright. Suddenly, these riders just appeared and took their horses along the path under the trees prior to canter work at the back of the Limekilns (all the gallops have different names at Newmarket). There were only a few horses and they were obviously on a different work schedule apart from the main string. It was the lighting with the sun filtering in from behind the trees and interesting shadows these created which fascinated me. It seemed such a peaceful scene." |
