"On my travels to Portugal I have been fortunate to visit some of the studs where the famous Lusitano horses are raised. In this instance I was taken to a beautiful hidden valley where a large herd of mares and foals roamed freely under the cork oak trees amid bushes of wild lavender, gorse and other wild flowers. The mares were nearly all grey, or dun in colour and they presented an almost surreal picture as they drifted through the undergrowth. It was utterly unspoilt - a scene that may not have changed for hundreds of years - and so peaceful that we could only think of it as 'Paradise'. " |
