"This painting was a commission and comprised a selection of horses all owned by one person but trained in a variety of yards. Somehow I had to think of a feasible way of including them all together in one picture but with the end result looking completely natural.

I had seen this particular gallop in Lambourn and liked the rolling landscape with the groups of trees which added interest to the background. It was soft, slightly misty morning in the summer and the horses are shown returning to their yard after work (lads will often get off and lead their charges at this point)."
