I really like the layout and presentation of this book because it makes is so easy to find the relevant information. There are four sections covering Stable Management, The Horse at Grass, Health and Veterinary Care and Feeding and Nutrition. Specific problems are identified and solutions indicated either on the same page or within a double page spread. It isn't necessary to read through endless text, the solutions are clearly summarised and are accompanied by excellent photographs which clarify both problems and the recommended way of dealing with them. This book covers all the common difficulties experienced by horse owners as well as many more unusual ones, but which might well crop up leaving the owner perplexed! There is not always an ‘expert' at hand to provide the necessary guidance but with this book to refer to even the first time horse owner can be confident of making sensible and practical decisions. This book would also be invaluable to anyone studying for their BHS Grade tests. There are so many lessons that are often learned the ‘hard way', invariably to the detriment of the horse and often to the owner too - especially financially! A sound approach is also the most economic approach and this book will prove itself a worthy investment over and over. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

This is an excellent book and strongly recommended for all horse owners - especially the inexperienced (but there are useful hints for everyone here!).
