"On one of my many visits to Portugal I was taken to a stud farm buried in the heart of the Alentejo and which I christened Paradise Valley... At a farm nearby I noticed a group of mares and one or two foals, making the most of the shade offered by an olive tree. It was one of these timeless moments on a hot summer's day when the only movement came from a swish of a tail and the only sound the buzzing of a fly... Even now I find the memory of this tableau soothing and relaxing.... "
