"One early spring morning in Newmarket I was watching horses and riders from various strings milling around at the bottom of Side Hill. This combination really caught my eye because the horse was lightly on its toes, and its rider had chosen to wear such a beautiful coloured jacket! In fact she had taken considerable care over her appearance and I thought horse and rider presented a lovely combination which really seemed to epitomise Spring. I used the dark blue/green of the holly tree behind to contrast against the rider. I also liked the long shadows on the sand and from the branches of the trees over the walls." |
