| "Whilst watching televised racing from Haydock one day, there was a sudden snowstorm. By the time the runners had reached the start the snow was beginning to settle. The race went ahead and not long afterwards I believe it stopped snowing altogether but I thought it presented an interesting idea for a painting with the horses coming into line and the jockeys bracing themselves against the cold!" |
