Most unusually in recent years,
we actually had snow in southern England in the winter of 2002/2003. There were even
blizzards for a day or two and these Arabian mares proved the hardiness of their breed
(better known for its tolerance of desert heat) by living out all through the worst of
the winter. Not surprisingly they grew thick coats - and these curled slightly in the
wetness of the snow.
The background was almost obscured by the falling snow and their faces were the only
thing to stand out, their breath forming clouds in the freezing air.
