Book Review
Classical Schooling for
Horse and Rider by Sylvia Loch |
||
Review of
the Cassette The cassette takes the form of a lesson in which Sylvia Loch takes the horse and rider back to basics - although I think to be fair that depends upon the level of schooling that any combination have achieved - there are certainly many for whom this would not seem very basic! However it is easy to understand the wisdom of the procedure and exercises on this tape aimed at producing a relaxed, supple and willing horse and equally beneficial for the rider. The novice could well work to this tape to good effect and yet the more experienced rider would find it a very useful schooling programme to use again and again before moving on to more advanced work. The tape carries music to help the rider establish a true sense of rhythm in the different paces. It is an admirable idea but at times the constant music seemed to be competing with Sylvia Lock s commentary and if you were actually riding at the time it might make it rather difficult to hear clearly across an outdoor school for example . However, on balance I think I would certainly buy this tape to assist my riding and I am certain I would benefit from it.
