Doma Vaquera competitions are an integral part of Spanish equestrianism, with regional and national competitions culminating in the Spanish National Championships. More recently Associations have been formed in the USA, France and Holland.
Last year Richard Lüst, Director and founder of Doma Vaquera UK Ltd., was made a Vocale Internacionale for the National Doma Vaquera Association of Spain and asked by the Association's President, Snr Jose Fuentes, to set up in 1999 to promote Doma Vaquera in the UK.
Competitions are held at different levels, for young, intermediate and experienced horses and riders. To assist newcomers entering the sport Doma Vaquera UK Ltd will promote an elementary level of competition (two hands on the reins, double bridles where preferred, some advanced movements deleted), as well as intermediate, side saddle and full grade 'A' level.
The aim is to promote at all levels now and to enable the most successful in each country to compete at proposed European Doma Vaquera competitions in the future. Doma Vaquera UK Ltd are preparing English translations of the Spanish rules, regulations and Reprises (tests) for their members.
Forthcoming news letters will include dress and tack code, riding tips, updates on the Spanish National Championships, dates and venues of competitions in Spain, riders and their horses. Trips are being planed to Spanish championship rounds and Doma Vaquera training schools.
The most complete range in the UK of Doma Vaquera training videos, equipment, tack and clothing will be available from stock. Members will benefit from some specially discounted prices.
Clinics, demonstrations, video shows and seminars, in conjunction with the Spanish National Association, are being organised in the UK for 1999.
