Magazine Review
"Pacemaker and Thoroughbred Breeder" magazine
Published monthly: Available from Tindalls on subscription*
Pacemaker has taken on a whole new look in the past few months and is now a much more vibrant and visually rewarding publication. A new editorial approach has resulted in a slightly lighter view of the serious matter of breeding and racing thoroughbred horses and it is all the better for it!
Nothing has been sacrificed that would be of interest to the breeder or racing's professionals - on the contrary there now seems to be more information about racing around the world, breeding and the personalities who form an integral part of the whole merry-go-round - but it all has a much fresher look which surely makes the publication much more attractive now to the non-professional, but avid racegoer - wherever he or she may be in the world. It is good to see the magazine at last fulfilling its potential and taking its rightful place as a leading publication in the world of horse racing - now a truly global concern, 'Pacemaker' reflects this. Personally I am delighted to see far better use of the work of the skilled photographers who bring us such wonderful images of the sport we love, since until recently they were much neglected by the magazine. It's all change now, however, and long may it continue!
